Stepping back in time...

Looking through my fly box and found the first fly I ever tied. I was probably in 1st grade at the time. This was before I had a vice, supplies or even any knowledge of fly tying. Did it all by hand using supplies out of my mom's craft room.

Supplies Used:
• Embroidery floss
• Unknown sized treble hook
• Tulle
• Glossy Accents
• Mallard feathers

Mystery Minnow

I was messing around with different flies and came up with this fly. I am still working to make it better but it is fairly good. I want to to try it out this spring and hopefully catch a big trout. It is triple articulated but instead of the middle hook I used a articulation shank.

The materials I used was:

  • #6 Orvis hooks
  • White marabou
  • Green or black hackle
  • Ice chenille
  • Rubber legs
  • Lead eyes
  • Craft fur in a dubbing loop for head

To go into further detail I will try to tape a video on my You Tube channel.

Rabbit Nymph

I just tied this rabbit nymph today. I started out tying on the bead chain eyes then the flash tail. For the body I just wrapped mylar tinsel up to the eyes. I took a small clump of the rabbit fur from a zonker strip and tied it in with the tips facing right. I put my thread back behind the eyes then pulled the rabbit back. Then I whip finished and cut my thread. If you want you can add some head cement.

Supplies used:
Hook: #14 dry fly
Tail: flash
Body mylar tinsel
Eyes: small bead chain eyes
Wing/Head: clump of rabbit fur

Fly Tying a Blood Worm

This is my first youtube video so I thought it would perfect for my first blog post. This fly is great for trout, perch and bass. Enjoy!
